Do you know your Dutch articles? This quiz tests 21 common shopping words — the kind of vocabulary you’ll use every week at the supermarket or market.
For each word, choose de or het. Instant feedback after every answer.
Before you start — two rules worth remembering:
✓ Plural forms always use de
✓ Diminutives (-je, -tje, -pje, -etje, -nkje) always use het
→ Read the full De or Het explanation first
How Did You Do?
18–21 correct — Excellent! Your article knowledge is strong.
13–17 correct — Good progress. A few to memorise still.
Under 13 — Keep practising. It takes time, and that’s completely normal.
Want to Improve Further?
The best way to learn Dutch articles is to practise them in context. Hearing and using them in real sentences, not just memorising lists.
If you’d like structured lessons with personal feedback, I offer online Dutch lessons for all levels.
